"A cold afternoon, September in Queenstown. Gloomy, wet and moody. I happened to be in a storm-chasing mood, so I jumped in the car with a friend, and we headed up The Remarkables to see if we could find some snow. No snow to speak of, but before long the lightning and thunder had shifted our attention. We set ourselves up about halfway down the mountain, where as it got darker, the lightning strikes got more pronounced, and disconcertingly, much louder."
