"It was day three of my Routeburn walk - or rather, dawn three - and I had been woken up early by the sound of dozens of other people stirring in their sleep, so had decided to go for a walk well away from the hut and its stirrings. The whole situation was situated on a lake called Mackenzie, and I stumbled across a bay I haven't got a name for, but the scene I witnessed there, completely alone apart from the odd family of ducks, speaks for itself."
